Hmm what bulb size do I need?

My cousin has a 1998 740 iL and so far I have installed HID's in his fog lights and low beams. He now wants HID's on his high beams. Can anyone tell me what bulb size I need for the High beams? I think its H7 but just want to double check before I order the kit.

Is it true your not supposed to put HID's in your high beams because by flickering the light you'll ruin the bulb or something? Thats what I heard tonight.

yes it's true. HID's take time to warm up, so it's bad to flash your highs with them in. and it's also bad for him to use his highs, turn them off and turn them back on in a short amount of time with his current setup because the fogs turn off when the highs are on. so be weary of that as well.

It's not recommended for that reason although if you are careful, you can run it.

I think as long as when you flash from no lights to high beem it isnt using the xenon then you're fine. I would think it isnt too bad to flash from low beam xenon to high beam xenon because the bulb is already warm.

Thats why our bi xenons still have the halogen flashing bulbs.

that's incorrect, you can't flash (or turn on/off in a short amount of time) with HIDs no matter the circumstance. with halogens you can flash as much as you want pretty much. even though it will also shorted the bulbs life span, it will still last a hell of a lot longer than HID bulbs. but even if he did flash with his halogen highs when his lows are on, he risks the HID fogs that he has. it's lose-lose
