It's still classified info out of an internal M-Forum, but the source is reliable.

Looks like a standard M3 with larger boot to me IMO. You you sure it's a CSL?

i think it would be kick ass if they did it but it sure would lower the perceived performance/value of the standard m3

number 1....... its not "classified" anymore

number 2....... those pics are not the CSL..... there will probably be different bumpers on it like the e46, and also, an unmasked version would not be at the ring this early

If the cars only lighter it won't be worth it, but if they get another 50hp from the V8 it's worth looking into.

Those pics are of the CSL test mule released in september if I remember correctly. It is used to test out aerodynamic components of the real CSL as well as the engine. The E46 M3 CSL was tested this way as well early shots of the e46 m3 CSL have it with an add on spoiler on the trunk as well, which all of us know became the infamous CSL trunk. So no again this is not how it will look at all folks. I will remain skeptical on price and availability until Official news comes out but my hunch is that it will come to the US and will cost about 70-80,000 US dollars more or less.

I'm guessing it will be priced right around 85-90k

It is not a matter IF it is coming out, because that is definately the case. But as before, BMW may wait until the Genfer Autosalon 2009 to officially showcase the car, as was done with the E46 CSL.

I will just say, that there are some internal M-Driver forums in Germany, that are able to get at least SOME info earlier and confirmed than the rest. And I trust it 100%.

If you do some weight saving on the E92 M3, you will definately be able to lose bucketloads of pounds. No electric seats, no satnav, no iDrive/Radio... You are looking at at least 200-250lbs right there. Then add more punch to the engine: A proper airbox, sharper cams, maybe proper headers and a titanium exhaust (although that would exaggerate a bit) and you would be looking at around 450bhp.

If the CSL comes out for 100k EUR in Germany, which is 50% more than the base M3, then you will be looking at around 85k USD over by you.

I've also heard rumors of a radical change in the engine department for the CSL. Rumors point to the brand new Twin-Turbo 4.4L V8 in the X6 50i concept. They are going to for sure put this engine in the 5 and 6 series next year...but that'd make one crazy CSL.

If they follow the tradition of the E46 CSL...itll probably just be a tuned version of the current 4.0L NA V8 and a BIG diet. But its fun to imagine...

I doubt they will use a TT in the CSL. The last interview I read said that they were not intending to FI their M-cars...
