wow congrats!!! I have a question about the euro deilvery.. i just ordered my 330ci for euro deilvery, now I have to pay for the car one month before i go to munich... and i have to pay for the month that it takes to get the car to the U.S? So thats a total of 2 months of payments that i have to pay without even having the car?!?

Is that how that works?

Cool European Delivery-

Yes, I am afraid that is how it works. However in the defense of the system
1. you get a discount that will pay for the trip
2. You get full insurance and breakdown coverage on the trip
3. You get full tags and road tax paid for 1 month in Europe

They ship the car back to your original dealer.

By your owning the car this is probably an insurance issue if something happened also they know you are not going to skip out after using the car in Europe.

(send me your email I'll send you some stuff)

For the question on euopean delivery....

You are able to order and buy the car through your dealer. Pick it up in Munich with (see above) and return it to about 200 locations in Europe and then it is shipped back to your dealer for delivery.

There is also a discounted price to pay for your trip.

I've read the above link but how about the sales tax? If I buy it in a dealer in N.America, do I still have to pay the sales tax in say... Munich where I "pick up" the car? Also, I assume that all the delivery costs are the same as the allotment cars?

So if this is true, who would NOT buy a European Delivery BMW unless they don't want to fly to Munich to pick up the car? $4000 is a lot of saving on a 330i.

It's just hard to believe. Somebody pls post something to add to my confidence.

I am leaving next week to pick up my 330ci. Any tips, or recommended places to visit?

Also, how'd you like the trip and overall experience?

Savings is only ~2-3K on the car, but you also save on taxes as inporting it as a used vehicle (depending on the number of km's driven). The dealer I went to, was Town and Country (Kennedy and 407). If you want, you can shoot me an e-mail if you need more help.

well i will be saving a little more than 2k-3k....

If i bought the car here with the same options it would be $42,810 sticker and that doesnt include destination. But with the euro delivery i got the price of $38,100. So that gives me about $4700 to spend on the Euro trip.

George,

Thanks for the tip. Yes I do know about Town & Country BMW at their new location. So did you buy a used car for ED or you just drove around there and have the new car exceeding the limitation as a new car and save the 15% tax? Sos... the 15% tax is the big save... forget about the $2k.

Thanks.

I will be leaving next week to pick up the car in Munich, and then drive around Europe for 2 weeks.

From what I was told, you should have at least 3k km so at customs, you have a good arguement that the car is in fact used
(because they appraise it at one of those book values)
i.e. New: 15% of $61k=$9150 vs Used:15% of $54kk=$8100

George,

C'mon man... then even by driving 3k km you'll only save another $1k. You might as well figure out a way to ask them to install a fake odometer to read like... 15k or 20k km on your car then. @@

That's not that much saving... $2k (purchase) + $1k saving = $3k less your time and money spend there. Of course, if you needed a vacation in Europe that's another story then.

BR.
