Projector Cut Off Knob

Hi,

Does anyone knows the purpose of this yellow knob in the back of the projectors? I noticed that it changed the light cut off when I move it from one position to the other.

It has 'RV <-> LV' marked on it.

it's the change the cutoff from lv (left hand drive) to rv (right hand drive). i'm guessing lv stands for left view or something.

i don't think we have that. it's usually only on euro-spec projectors.

You are right. But both projectors are in the RV position, so maybe RV (Right View or similiar) is for left hand drive cars to iluminate the right side of the road.

I don't know but, when I changed between both positions, the RV position generates a litle more light output than in LV.

Maybe I didn't moved it enough to iluminate more in the LV. I'll try it tonight. I can maybe have one projector in the RV and one in the LV to have a wider light output.

lol my bad, yea you are right. rv is for lhd. i was just matching up r and l with it without really thinking. but that should be right, if you're lhd, more light is thrown to the right side than in front of you. so for the lv, it'll be thrown more on the drivers side than the passenger side, so that could be why it doesn't seem as bright.

I moved again the knob to LV but it didn't increase the light output to the Left side. It just shut down the "extra" right side output.

So I decide to leave it in the RV position because it passes more light to the right side of the road. Guess RHD don't get that benefit as we LHD do. Or maybe RHD vehicles just have the extra light to the left side and none to the right side.

I took two pictures showing both positions. First one is for LV (RHD) and second one for RV (LHD). As you can see, in the second picture the RV cut off is smaller so it passes more light than in the LV position. On the other side of the cut off, nothing change between positions. That's why the extra light only is available in the RV position.
