M3 shift boot vs. SSK: What to do?
subject was supposed to be what TO do.... anywhoo...
Anyone here put an ssk into an M3? (I'm sure someone here has). What did you do about the shift boot, since it's part of the shift knob. tia. Last edited by Imola Ed; 05-11-2002 at 05:41 PM. |

Your original shift boot with integral knob is completely compatible with any short shift kit. The knob comes off the shift lever, and should be able to attach to the new shift lever. The only issue with the E46 M3's one piece boot and knob is if you want to change the shift knob. The easy solution is the factory shift boot from a non-M3 E46 coupe, which will fit the M3 perfectly. And as John pointed out, UUC will shortly have an E46-specific alcantara shift boot for your M3. - Rob

GO custom and do what I did......would look good in red!
It's not that much more and we can also do a matching E-brake boot too!
drop me an e-mail for more info. You can even choose the color of the stitching. later, rick |
