Ian I never get tired of seeing that bike. I love my Speed Triple but every time I see a picture of the R nine T it hits me like man I should of got one of those. Maybe I will pick up a used one down the road in a year or 2.

So with I95 HOV lanes set to come all the way to Fredericksburg in 6 months or so, I'm questioning ditching my daily train ride and DDing a bike to work, about a 50 mile trip each way.

Looking for something in a sport touring, first thing that comes to mind is a Multistrada 1200 and an R1200RT. Thoughts? Other options?

Yeah. That would work great, until the snow drops.

No. But he's a fairly new rider.
Been there done that. Went 2 winters with just a bike and did a trackday in the rain.

damn i was just messing around. i never thought of riding in the snow. i had to overcome a big fear of leaning the bike on sharper turns in the rain so snow wouldn't be a surface i would ride on without killing myself.

Snow isn't as simple as rain tho. Whole different beast.

My buddy is in the process of buying a VFR750. The old school 90's one. Some research into the model shows that it was one of the most reliable and best do-it-all bikes ever, and constantly makes "best used bike" lists. They can be had for 2-3 grand and would be the perfect commuter.

Yeah, I have no intention of riding in the snow. When snow comes, I'd just drive to the train station or pick up slugs.
