E46 M3 front bumper removal

Need some guidance from anyone who may know. Im trying to remove the front bumper of my M3. Im doing a VF SC install today, and everything seems to be going well so far **knock on wood**. however the issue is the front bumper. After reading a few DIY guides, nothing seems to be pointing me in the right direction. I removed 1 screw from each side of the fender well. Then removed the four screws from the bottom of the bumper. HOwever the bumper doesnt come off. What am i missing? It seems like there is more screws in place that is holding it. I have removed several bumpers on other types of cars, but never has it been this hard to remove just the front bumper. Oh yeah, i removed the screws that holds the foglights as well.

any inputs or help is greatly appreciated.

Have you removed the screws in the fender liner as well as the under tray?

Also, there are a couple screws located under the headlights behind that trim piece. I took these off when I removed mine, unsure if it is necessary.

You've got to give it a good tug directly forward. Some are a little stuck.

Chris.

what sucks is that the bumper mesh does not come off, it is part of the bumper. now i see 8 or 10mm bolt near the foglight underneath , but dont see any torx bolts under the mesh area. is there a post on how to for my year 2002?

any1 figured out how to get these off? My car just got hit and a new front bumper is needed. Going to be doing the job myself as the person who hit me is my friend and offered to pay for everything.

read the posts above, the process of bumper removal was addressed. If you need more visual aid, I recommend a Haynes or Bentley manual.

It's been a while since my car was oem so not sure if this is complete but here's what I do - remove 3 8mm bolts from the fender well on each side (total of 6 bolts). On the driver's side there's 2 more 8mm bolts under the bumper that connect to the fender well. The fender well should now be able to be removed and set aside. The passenger side also has 2 8mm bolts and a plastic phillips screw that needs to be removed and you then need to pull out the plastic "thing" that the screw came out of. You should now be able to remove the passenger fender well and then remove the bumper. Just tug on the bumper each side and it should come off with a little persistence. Once the bumper is off the body you will need to disconnect the the fog lights on each side - just rotate the gray plastic insert about 90 degrees and it will come right out.

Not sure about other E46 cars but the torx bolts by the mesh are not present on the M3.
