What are those little colored dots on the bottom of chip bags?

I'm looking at the bottom of the Doritos bag and it has a bunch of little colored dots. Is it some code for what's in the bag, is it some color test for the printing process? Anyone know for sure?

colors used in the printing of the bag. if the bag is messed up they can use those to determine where the problem is in the printing process, too.

Correct - they are the Pantone colours that are blended (actually overlayed) to make the final bag print colours
