how do you use one of these ballasts and maintain the bixenon functionality, i read somewhere that this feature is run through the ballast if i bypass it how can i maintain my bixenons? thanks

Since the OEM ballast is mounted to the headlight you'd have to remove the rear cover to plug the ballast into the HID bulb. This could cause a problem with moisture getting into the housing. I don't know what others experiences are upgrading ballasts but the stock housings are pretty well sealed up.
As far as 50W ballasts there's some debate on the HID retro forums about them. Here is a picture of an E46 projector running a 50W ballast. IMO that's too much foreground light. Your pupils are going to constrict from all of that light and your night vision will suffer outside of that "hot spot" immediately in front of the car. |
