My Ride: 02 330i M-tech sedan
ZHP wannabe from Europe -> new pics p2

Hi Guys, just wanted to show you my '02 330i M-tech II sedan.

Since the ZHP package was never available here in the Netherlands, this is as close to it as I could get here. I imported it from the motherland (Germany) in November of last year.

It's saphire black with alcantara seats and has a 5-speed manual
It had a little over 100k kilometers on it when I bought it (about 63.000 miles) and the previous owner (I'm the third one) had a wetterauer chip installed (supposedly) giving it 245hp/320nm.

Things I did so far:
maintanance (fluids, filters and sparkplugs)
updated/replaced the CCV and hoses with the cold weather package
replaced the MkIII navigation with an MkIV
replaced the CD changer with an Intravee II & alpine KCA-420i combo
installed parrot ck3000 evo carkit with connects2 cables
ZHP gearknob
cupholders in the center console
threw some winter tires on the style 72's

things to come soon:
performance discs with ferodo ds2500 pads on the front (waiting on install)
H&R twintube coilovers (ordered)
VMR VB3 19" wheels with summer tyres

on to the pictures:

Can't wait to install the coilovers and new wheels when I get them!

Tell me what you think

Clean car, congrats
haha, good eye I'm 6'4 so I like my headroom. In my previous car (e36 328is) I couldn't even comfortably have a sunroof... (and I like not having one now as well, feels more spacious)

I was on the fence between silver and gunmetal for a while, but combined with a black car I think silver is more classy.
I bet it'll look very nice on your silver car though!

On these pictures it's on the OEM sport suspension. I think that's 15 or 20 mm lower than standard.

Almost ready!

I'm almost ready with the first mods. I ordered the VMRs on 25th of March and had ordered the coilovers two weeks before that. It didn't really go as planned after that

H&R suffered from production problems and it took them two months to deliver the twintube coilovers. I replaced all connecting parts (top mounts, etc) and put them on the next weekend. Straight away there was a clunking sound on short bumps. During that same time I recieved the VMRs but one of them had been badly damaged by UPS during transportation. So this also meant more waiting for a replacement wheel.

After checking out the front struts it turned out that the strut cap on the damper was badly installed at the factory. It was loose (on both sides) and this gave the damper sideways play in the strut housing :S we couldn't fix this ourselves, so i decided to throw the original struts back on and sent the new ones back to H&R.

At this point I got the new rear VMR wheel and my new dunlop sportmaxx rt tires, so it finally started to come together. I had my rear fenders rolled professionally and put the new wheels on. Somewhere in between I also replaced the front brakes with OEM performance disks with ferrodo ds 2500 pads, so this is how she sits today:

The difference between the front oem sport struts and the rear coilover springs is quite big at the moment

Nice. Wheels made the car! All you need on a BMW are wheels and lowering

A couple of guys on the local forum ordered monotubes a few months back. They just got them. So you're not alone!
Did you take the dust cap and spacer over from the OEM struts in the front? I forgot them once, and the bearring couldn't move freely, so the springs got twisted when I turned the wheel. Which in turn made a clunk noise when driving over bumps or potholes.

Yeah I know about that, bit I had all parts in there. The problem is visible in this pic:

The top part of the thread with the red locktite is not supposed to be visible... Unfortunately I didn't see it during the install because the dustcover was down over that bit
