red and gold engine bay stuff - m3

So I posted this on m3forum to very mixed opinions, figured I'd see how it went over here. What everyone unanimously agrees on and I fully admit to, is the airbox wrap looks pretty sloppy. I tried putting the stuff on as one big sheet which didnt work out. In hindsight I shouldve used a template to measure and cut pieces of wrap. Also was in a bit of a hurry to get everything put back together which didnt help. If I can get my hands on a spare airbox I may take another shot at wrapping. In any case its interesting seeing some color under the hood. Im open to any suggestions for what could go with the gold wrap besides red.

Airbox, intake elbow, backside of intake heat shield are wrapped in heat reflective material.

Valve cover, clamps, and diverter are painted red anodized over hyper silver base with a hi temp gloss top coat.

DEI gold tape is designed to reflect heat, not contain it. You'd be better off lining the outside of your intake heat shield with it.

I like the valve cover. Just needs an M emblem.

Isn't that what he's doing? Keeping the heat out of the airbox?

It looks to me like he's wrapped the outside of the air filter heat shield In the second pic it appears that the back of the plate with the AFE sticker is gold

Something that just occurred to me is that it seems like a lot of heat might enter the airbox from the bottom... Maybe wrap the bottom too?

I removed the whole airbox to wrap it so the bottom is mostly done. A lot more crevices down there so wrap is patchier.

Back side of the afe heat shield is indeed wrapped to (hopefully) keep heat away from the filter.

I cracked the M badge when removing it and am waiting on another from Turner.
