High Performance Water Pump

First off I'd like to say thanks to all the DIY posters(I've snooped the site for quite awhile now). What is the feedback on replacing the OEM water pump with the high performance model. I'm just using my 330ci for daily driving with no track use. Is the high performance model worth the extra scratch? Thanks

You won't see any performance or cooling improvement with the EMP Stewart pump. The OEM pumps do a good enough job -- if they're working. But if it's reliability you're after and don't mind paying almost $200 for it, then it's worth it. I haven't seen anyone complain that theirs conked out. I changed mine to the EMP Stewart purely as preventive maintenance at 50K. One less part to think about in the future.

Does anyone have experience with GRAF pumps with the metal impellar? They are 1/3 of the cost of the Stewart.

I was looking into water pumps last year and searched on here and another bmw board...I found some postings that say GRAF is a crap brand and to stay away....

This is the thread that convinced me to buy from KOPerformance...long story short, I wasn't impressed. 2 weeks later and it still hasn't shipped, and they won't call me or email me when they say they will.

For the extra $5, next time I'm ordering from one of the places I usually do business with (Like autohausaz)--scratch that about being more expensive. They're on sale, and cheaper than KOPerformance. I feel like a jerk!

I would get the Stewart. I have it, just not installed yet. It's twice the price, but you can't beat the lifetime warranty on it.

I'm kinda in the same boat, but I ordered the Stewart from them last week. Hopefully, it's not going to take two weeks to come in. I think I will try Autohausaz for my next purchases.

I got the tracking number from them today around lunchtime. They sent it 3-day (it'll arrive Tuesday), even though I was on the phone with them explaining that I needed to drive back to Atlanta on Monday, and I'm stranded without it.

Not happy. Unfortunately, I'm too nice a guy to get really mad about this at the beginning of the week and demand overnight shipping

I did get the pump on that Tuesday, as expected. I emailed them again wondering what happened, and why nobody ever got back to me, but again...no response. Never ordering from them again, but it could have been worse--I did eventually get what I paid for.

same thing happened to me. I bought a bunch of parts and took them a month not until I called them what happened. then they overnight delivery. Check out the new site for cheaper parts from Crown auto. I compare the price from KoPerformance and Crown auto was way cheaper.

I've learned my lesson: when it matters, I'm sticking with Autohaus and Pelican Parts. Rock solid.

After hearing the horror stories and panic mode regarding the waterpump, I opted for the Stewart which is an beautiful piece of work! However, my original OEM composite impellor pump lasted 115K miles before a slight residue buildup was noticed around the weep hole and the bearings were a little loose. I use my car mostly for commuting and don't bounce it off the rev limiter very often. I think under these circumstances, the OEM pump is fine. So, if you want to save some $$$ go OEM. I plan on putting 250-300K on this car so the Stewart is still worth the money if it goes that long.
