Thumbs down Chipped ECU Vs Performance Chip

Hey Guys

I am thinking of getting a second hand ECU and chipping it or getting a performance chip for my 320d.

Was wondering what you guys think would be the best option and if you knew any place where i could get the parts fora resonable price?

thought chipping the ECU is actually reprogramming with a performance mapping and the performance chip is a external unit which is connected? correct me if i am wrong though?

There are no external units for the E46. Any software, performance chip, "chipping", is all just a reflash of the ECU map.

They only work on US spec cars. They only have these available for the 323, 325, 328 and 330.

Here are instructions for installing:

You will need something like this:

I nod off for a few minutes and a fellow Sri Lankan joins the forum.

What's up bro

Is it worth to do the mod? Ahhh I'm actually contemplating that as well. Couple of hp, higher rpm, no limiter, etc. etc.
I've come to the conclusion that it's not worth for me at the moment. About to go through a full suspension overhaul and that's going need all the money I can save.

If you're talking about the shark, it wont work on his 320D.
