Thumbs Up Review: Hankook Icebear W300 Winter Tires

Brand: Hankook
Model: Icebear W300
Type: Studless Performance Winter

Wheel: 17x7 style 73 (OEM)
Tire: 205/50

Car: 2002 330i

I figured I would go ahead and write my review now, before I forget. Hopefully people who are searching for a winter tire next season, or what more information on this particular tire will find this helpful.

Overall, extremely impressed. Road noise was almost non-existent. They gripped well in dry, wet, and snow. I had the opportunity to drive these through a lot of snow, and some packed ice... and they performed confidently.

I've only driven 3,000 miles on these tires, so I cannot comment on how quickly they wear, but at a rating of W300 I imagine they would last roughly 20,000 miles. You have to keep in mind that you cannot run them as bald as your summer tires, because you need some tread to handle the snow. recommends at least 6/32 of tread left to perform well in snow.

I purchased these tires from Discount Tire Direct due to their promotion at the time ($100 instant rebate with free shipping). The tires were normally $112 I believe... I paid $353 shipped for all four. Ordering them was easy, and they arrived very quickly. I would do business with them again.

I hope this information is helpful for anyone in the future looking for some winter tires.

Next weekend I will be putting on my winter wheels/tires. After two brutal winters with the Hankook Icebear W300's, I am going into my third winter with confidence. These are excellent winter tires, and I would them again.

+1 I have the exact same rim/tire sizes for the past 2 winters with no issues but our winters here in NYC aren't as brutal as they are in other locations. The tires are still pretty good in the wet/dry situation.

I've run the 16" size on my E28 the past 2 winters here in the western DC area - good results!
