opaque is a frosty covering, also not necessary, the standard kit will serve you very well.

So these orion v2's automatically go on and stay on when the car is on? Is there anyway to turn them off? How long will they last for approximately?

They last over 10 years easily.
With the harness you can wire th any way you want but most people do drl function.
