Major bump I tried every system besides the Thule 753 available for our cars. I originally bought the BMW roof rack thinking the bars were Thule Aero, well as you can see in the first picture they aren't.

The channel is too wide to comfortably fit the square screws from Thule attachments and the bar is too thick for a Thule Aero fairing. PS I was tired when I made this I know my grammar sucks.

Then I bought a use Yakima control tower set which, at the minimum width was too wide for the car. I though it looked dowdy. The way the gasket contacts the roof was looser on one side also which worried me.

Finally, I ended up buying Thule Aero load bars in 43cm, and attaching them to the BMW feet. You have to modify the channel guides from BMW for a gentle sliding movement in the channel as pictured (second picture).

Then I had to do just a small amount more work clipping the back of the edge Thule 44" fairing tabs off so that it would clip correctly to the narrower between-the-feet width. As you can see I cleanly used zipties.

Let me mention this is all because Thule is retarted. They used to make the 3065 fit kit for sedans, which was recalled and never replaced. Additionally, if you send them your fit kit for the recall they have NOTHING for you. And if you think you are smarter than me and found it in the UK etc new. Be warned, NONE of those places have it in stock I called them. They think that they can get it but Thule says you can't anymore. /rant and here are the pics!

This is the roof rack comparing the Thule Echelon and Thule Sidearm. The Sidearm is much bigger, louder, worse for fuel mileage, etc. With the fairing and the Echelon there is almost no noise. For refrence two 29" wheels fit in my trunk with subwoofer!

Finally set up with:
2x Thule Echelon with X-Adapt 9. (You only need one for front and back, Thule doesn't mention this though)
2x Thule 43" Rapid Aero Load Bars
Thule 44" fairing with 14" zip ties.
2x BMW feet from roof rack.
PS: Due to the locking caps from Thule made for screw on racks, the lock on the echelon this setup is near impossible to steal. The way the bars are wider than the BMW bars makes it even more difficult. PM me with question or details

^ great info!

Looks awesome on your ZHP.

I saw a decent deal for an OEM kit from the local bmw dealership on ebay, but I'm thinking re-tinting my windows is more important right now. Especially since I don't have a bike yet...

My contribution....

Thule roof rack
Thule diffuser
2x Thule wheel carriers - only 1 mounted in the pic
2x Yakima bike carriers

I went with the Thule rack because as most of you know, it fits in the OEM roof mounts. I went with the Yakima carriers because they got better reviews over the Thule carriers in the same price range.

I skipped from page 3 or so to the end here so I am not sure if this was said, but rocky mount also makes some cool ad ons for both the bmw base system and the thule ones. The bike ad ons come in an array of colors as well. I think I may go with those when I get the thule system next month. Just my input, cars look great guys.

make sure you get the clear protectant strip for the roof before putting the fairing on.

To those with OEM roof racks, what bike attachments can you use? I want one that allows me to remove the front tire to bolt down. Thanks
