Based on all the great roof rack pictures in this thread, it would seem that all four "feet" of the Thule 871XT fairing should lay flush with the roof.

What am I doing wrong? The two middle feet are laying flush; however, the two outer feet are a good 6"-8" off of the roof.

Guidance and technical assistance would be much appreciated. Thanks all.

I had the same issue. Look at the the brackets that hold the fairing to the bar (specifically where I circled in the picture). You'll notice two different slots. At first I thought they were for adjusting how far forward the fairing sits on the roof, but they're actually used to set the curve of the fairing and draw the corners down flush with the roof. Notice on mine that the inner brackets are set in the forward slot, and that the outers are recessed to the rear. Doing so will pull back on the corners and lay the fairing flat. Press down on it and tighten up the knobs, and you'll be all set.

^^^Thank you very much for the concise explanation and especially for the pictures. This is directly on point and extremely helpful. I will make the adjustments this weekend and report back.

I assume you're talking about the hex head with the little post in the middle. Search "tamper proof hex". I'm not sure what size it takes, but it looks like most of the allen keys come as a set anyway.
