This looks like a steal on a 8 series.

Wish I had some money for it. Why the heck is it running so cheap? Makes me suspicious though. Looks well taken care of....besides wear on the interior.

That car is BOSS. Will always be the big bro of all BMW coupes. I miss mine so much...even though I had the V8 840Ci...

Because maintaining it will cost you more than that. Great cars but they're expensive to maintain.

Yep. I had priced out a gorgeous 840 here in MA when I had my insurance check from my last accident and spoke to my service manager who's a great guy and good friend. Told me to steer clear due to service issues and cost. After a certain mileage, I guess it's common for them to be in the shop often.

Beautiful cars though, but I'm happy with my E46.

Beautiful car, not so beautiful when it comes to maintaining them though. The M73 is essentially two engines mated to each other, so much so that they ran two DMEs.

Why are these cars so great? I must be missing something... they must cost a ton to maintain and repair if something breaks and I can't see them being much of a performer... don't get it. Someone explain pleaseee

All the older big coupes are wonderful cars. The cost to maintain can be mitigated if the work is done yourself. Thats how I do it.

For their time they were pretty good performers, they are not meant to be sports cars. They are fantastic touring cars with much better handling then the big benz coupes of the time.

Just as a point of reference the 850csi did the quarter mile in 14.1 secs back in 1994 that is only a few tenths of E46 M3 times and it was a big car it weighs 4239lbs.

Then import taxes, emissions, shipping and you are right back where you started, unless of course you live in Japan.

i think its funny when younger guys just look at car prices from overseas, and then say "yeah, i'm gunna just import a ______" without realizing that you just plainly can't.
there's so much red-tape, even if you could get around the import regulations and safety issues, you'd pay so much to get it up to spec that you might as well have bought a ferrari.
i've been there though, i used to say that about the skyline gtr's along with every other high school kid of my class... pssh i was an idiot
