p46 problem

i have p46's and i am having the hardest time getting the high beam locking ring to lock on to the p46 housing. i hope you all know what i mean. on the oem housing to get the bulb out you need to squeeze the tabs and twist the bulb carrier out. i have yet been able to get the oem bulb carrier to lock onto the p46 housing, the high beam bulbs have just been hanging in there without them being locked. i have tried to turn really heard and i can see the housing moving. i do not want to break anything. has anyone else had this problem?

The highbeam housings didn't fit the P46s. (The bulb carrier) I swapped out the bulbs, into the bulb carrier supplied with the P46s, and it has worked fine..........
