Lightbulb Which turn signal bulb is correct

I have a 2001 330i sedan that needs a new front turn signal. I checked sylvania.com and they suggest two bulbs, both of which are dual filament and can't work. I looked around and found bulb 1073 which looks exactly the same, has the same resistance spec, fits in the connector, and lights up when hooked up. Sylvania also suggests using 7506 and I've found mention of those in a couple posts. Whats everyone using to replace the front turn signal bulbs?

Actually it's a 7506 bulb with offset nipples.

BUT, if most of us vendors will sell you an 1156 because all you have to do is shave one of the nubs off and it works equally well.
