sorry i've never installed headers before.. i was always sure you needed to weld them...
and your saying to run the tune instead of 02sims? i do like that idea better.
will the tune clear the code or just hide it from the dash?

It stops monitoring emissions equipment, as per European standards.

i'm in BC Canada.. do you have smog testing at all in Toronto?
i'd assume from your knowledge you have headers.. any issues with smog testing if so.

I have to install my old headers for emissions testing once every 2 years. Yes its a PITA.

Tune doesn't effect the e-test though. They just make sure your CEL is off.

Its just a cash grab. If I registered the car literally 100km north of Toronto, no E-test would be required.

About 4-6 hours of my time since I do it myself.

If its only visual then maybe. The inspector might see the shiny headers and ask some questions....

when i went for my last smog test they plugged into the OBD slot and didn't run a mirror under the car.. of course i had no dash indicators
so if i was lucky and was able to get the o2sims to work i'd have no codes and possibly since they don't always check under the car i'd be safe
would be so worth it haha

I just went through this (I'm in BC too). I asked my tuner about the european tune and they said it would show the o2 sensors "not ready". This prevents the dash light but depending on the emission testing equipment it could still fail the test. So I got the regular north american tune and I'm getting o2 sims.
I'll let you know if I pass aircare in august 2013

If I fail I'll just get aftermarket cats and relocate the yhe sensors.

Are the catalytic converters on the manifolds the only ones, or is there an inline one further back?

The only cats are part of the manifolds. The other pieces of the exhaust system are 2 resonators and a muffler.

Its a very very small difference. The car is by no means loud after headers. Everybody thinks my 330 is stock.

Bimmerbrakes headers are $255 now, are they worth the extra money over trader-nas or another brand?

I bought these

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Performance-...item519d8bd279

They match up perfectly and will bolt right up to the exhaust pipe but only 1 of the 4 O2 holes is usable. The other 3 will hit the heat shield and header. You will have to weld new bungs the proper place to fit your O2 sensors in.
