what you should do is wash, clay bar, and then wax. the clay bar will remove all the surface contaminates that the wash just couldnt get. you will be amased by how much the clay will pick up off your clear coat. i reccomend the clay magic fine grade clay bar you get 200 grams of clay witch you can cut up into 6-8 pieces, so you get an extremely large ammount of clay for that one low price. and with the clay bar you would need clay lube. some people use soap diluted with water and a spray bottle, but most people use some form of instant or spray on detailer. good luck!

also P21S Paintwork Cleanser from bavauto helps to get minor scratches and dirt out that washing cant do. I Wash, Cleanse, Clay Bar, then Wax.

since the clay bar has been brought up in this thread and I've never done it to my car, how exactly do I go about doing it without screwing something up? I've seen the Meguires clay bar at all the local stores. . .
