MTech2 Install HELP

Hey guys, maybe I'm just having a stupid moment.

I have a MTech 2 bumper ready to install on my facelifted 02 sedan w/sport package. It won't fit on because of 4 tabs on the inner side above the main air intake duct. There are nowhere for these tabs to go on or in the aluminum support, but I see them on all Mtech 2 bumpers. My original bumper does not have the tabs.

I have the correct mounting brackets and other hardware ready to go. I've combed the web for an answer and didn't find one unless I have a different support brace. The usual answer is that once I have the pre-facelift brackets the bumper should just slide right on as easy as the old bumper came off. I didn't want to cut the tabs off until I got another opinion. If I'm just having the biggest newb moment of all time I welcome the assist. There shouldn't be difference between sedan and coupe; this has been brought up many times. The bumper has the front impact strips so it's for a sedan.

* As I was waiting for the pictures to upload I found a post on Bimmerfest by Solidjake saying he had to trim black plastic side supports to fit the bumper. I think I may have to do this but I cannot tell until the tab issue is resolved and I can fit the bumper further back.

**The bumper was pre-painted so I didn't have the opportunity to prefit before paint.

I would just cut them off. They are not of any importance. My bumper on my coupe dosent have them. Its oem. Trust me. The bumper wont fall off

Yeah I can't see any structural reason they would be there for my car but I just wanted to make sure.

Just make sure your mesh grill fits first and if it clips on without needing those bits then just nip them off

Done and done, I checked the mesh. It's fitting well in the front, now I have to modify the side black brackets. Thanks for the reply.

Update: Bumper is on, looks great. I'd like the sides to be a little tighter but I'm going to save that for tomorrow. I'll update with some pictures as well. Big ups to this forum. I've installed BiXenon headlights, Orion V2 Angel eyes, side and corner markers, a front bumper, and new pulleys/belts in the last week all from the guides and help of members from this forum. Can't be said enough, thank you guys.
