Dimming my LED Angel Eyes.......how can I do it?

I installed a set of LED Angel Eyes (v1) recently and I love thier look, but is there a way to dim them a bit cause they are extremely bright especially at night.....looks way too aftermarket IMO.

This was the first thought I had after the install. They look great in sun light but IMHO rice at night! I know there was someone who attempted this with a photo resistor. I have done some of my own reserch and the relay sent with these kits is crap (Don't believe me then disconnect your ground / pull your fuse). If your lights are like mine then you may notice they will still be on @ ~50%. But don't attempt to run your car like this...major fire risk.

As you may notice I'd like to see this topic discussed!!

What wire did you tap to in the footwell light?

You can install a Rheostat on the wiring harness just as you would a kill switch to dim the units.

To the OP... Where did you get these LED angel eyes? And do you want to dim them all the time or have them dim just at night?

my only guess off the top of my head would be to tap into the interior dimmer wire, there should be one running from your head unit. splice it from the same wire you ran to your footwell light.

would this work? 5 prong relay, lead to constant +, lead to chassis and AE ground, + lead to AE, lead to ECU box for on w/ ign, lead to footwell lights (now spliced to radio dimmer wire)

You can get them from Bimmian, Jlevi, Modbargains, NA motorwerks, Umnitza - in alphabetical order. yes, we are the lead on this product. It's called Umnitza Predator Orion (V1).

You can - as Nick suggested - get a potentiometer.

I would think this would be ideal.....gives 5v - 12v adjustable. I've used this on PC fans to great effect in the past.
I'll try on mine when i get them fitted. Very small and unobtrusive too !

If you use a relay wired up correctly then you can have the AE bright during the day and then set it so that when you turn on your parking lights, the AE dims...kind of like how your radio lights dim when you turn on the lights.

Sadly, this customer never showed up and didn't call
But, good news is another customer with an E36 will be here mid this week for Orion V2 Red on his car and we'll have to install a rheostat on his car.
