custom widebody costs a LOT more than a m3 fender.. thats exactly what i would do if i went wide.. when you go custom either one like is sharper or one is more curved and its a pain in the ass to match up.

gl with the project man! im also subscribing

if he decided to just do a drivetrain swap he would've had two valuable cars instead of one somewhat valuable car (the sedan isnt going to be as valuable as the m3 coupe) and one junk car (the m3 after the parts are taken off of it) the other way he would've had two valuable cars. i dunno i guess i'm just thinking in a more business point of view.

he couldve gone aftermarket, it wouldve been cheaper than oem body panels. maybe he could've even got carbon fiber parts.

dude how many CUSTOM AFTERMARKET METAL fenders do you think there are? close to NONE. thats why theyre custom.. if he wanted FG panels sure he couldve got some for 100 bucks but metal>FG any day.

ive been to numerous shops where just front custom metal fenders are 1500+ with paint.. rear is more like 3000+ realistically

its a lot of banging/welding/smoothing out.

ive gotten enough quotes

okay tell me this, which one would've coasted more buying a perfectly good condition M3 and chopping it up (not going to sell it at nearly the price you bought it for). or buying individual body panels and getting the drivetrain. after he's done with this project he's going to have a hunk of junk that he cant do anything with, and a sedan that he will not be able to sell for as much as the original m3 was worth.

dude.. like i just now said.. that is fiberglass.

metal>fiberglass.

yes i couldve gotten a FG widebody for cheap.. obviously he wanted to use as many oem parts as possible

he needed a lot of parts off of an m3 and instead of searching around piece by piece he had the money to buy one.. end of story. im sure hell sell the rest off and make a lot of money back

he's selling the interior and putting recaro sporster cs and custom rear seats and sides. everything in the end is custom he is just seeing which piece he could actually use off the m3. what does it really matter anyway? let him do what he wants. his money, his mods, his cars

^HAHA...

And thanks for all the good lucks, I think I will need them...

Ok, I feel I got a lot of things done today.

Got the car as high as possible on the jack stands..

My plan for today was to get the engine and transmission out. And to remove most of the parts in the engine bay. Got the AC system emtied, so I could remove the AC condenser, radiator and oil cooler.

Then I started working on the engine. Found out that BMWs are really nice cars to work on. There are no hidden screws that are impossible to reach, everything is really straight forward. The engine and transmission is only attached to the chassis in 4 bolts, of course there are a lot of things attached to it though....

Got the engine strapped to the crane.

Then you have to start pulling and lifting..

Almost there...

Finally I got the little engine out..

If anyone wants a engine for their lawnmower or something, you can get one from me wery cheap..

Some of the parts.

Almost ready for paint. Just the braking system and tubing left. And a little cleaning

Thats it for today. Next thing is to get the dash and everything inside the car out. Picking up the OEM M3 rear fenders tomorrow, im excited to see how im going to fit those..

I can't wait to see the end result.

I'm pretty sure the owner of the black bimmer used for the PS doesn't mind you using the pic.
