no one would flame you(namely me) if you had posted in the correct section. theres an "other bmw's" section for a reason.

Owning an E46 does not allow you to run rampant and post extraneous videos in the General E46 forum. I don't understand how you can knowingly post something in the incorrect forum...

I find it funny that the M3 won every category and it still lost. It's a moot point to argue the markup because dealerships aren't marking up the M3 anymore. As for the actual price, the M3 is cheaper than a 335i with Dinan S2 package. You can get into an M3 for $53k and change, but you'll go way over that for the 335i. You have $10k for the S2 setup, another $5k for the wheels, then tack on the 27.3 labor hours suggested by Dinan at $125/hour for another $3400. At $58k, that's more than an M3 which BEAT the 335i in all their categories.

Don't get me wrong, I love Dinan and the 335i and M3. I just think that the people making that video have their heads up their tailpipes. "M3 keep your lunch money"...stupid. And the sad part, the 335i still doesn't have a LSD.

These people need to be fired.

You, my friend, are 100% INCORRECT in this statement...The Starting price for a BASE M3 Coupe is $56k BEFORE taxes as stated here:

http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...e/default.aspx

The 335i is cheaper even when you add the Dinan Package to it as seen below.

http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...e/default.aspx

And what he says in the video is correct because If I had the choice, i would probably go with the 335i with Dinan Package as well for more torque and saving some money in my pocket and still getting Nearly the same performance...

GREAT VIDEO and Thank you for positing this in the GENERAL E46 forum where everyone can find it!!!!!!

The E90 M3 starts out at $53,800. I never made a distinction of which M3 I was speaking of, did I? Attention to detail here...
The E90 M3 handles similarly to the E92 and posts similar times. BUT, if you want to get technical about it and go E92 vs E92, let's debate...

The 335i plus Dinan S2 package uninstalled plus Dinan Wheels uninstalled with tires purchased ($349-380/tire because Dinan recommends Michelin PS2s and always sends out test cars with them on) adds up to over $56,500, which is the E92 M3 MSRP.

335i - $40,800
Dinan S2 (uninstalled) - $10,382.46
Dinan 19" wheels - $5,096
Michelin PS2 Tires - $1458
Total (uninstalled) = $57,736.46.

That's all assuming you're not paying taxes on the stuff.
Then, add in the Dinan listed 27.3 hrs labor at a reasonable dealership shop rate of $125/hr and you tack on $3,412.50 in labor charges just for the S2 kit.
For a GRAND TOTAL off...$61,148.96 !!!

335i - $40,800
Dinan S2 (uninstalled) - $10,382.46
Dinan 19" wheels - $5,096
Michelin PS2 Tires - $1458
SubTotal (uninstalled) = $57,736.46
Labor (27.3hrs @ $125/hr) + $3,412.50
Grand Total = $61,148.96

And as we've all learned in elementary school, $61,148.96 > $56,500.

Next time think before you speak.

You didn't calculate in the blown up automatic gearbox of the Dinan after a while and the two dead turbos ....

My Ride: What else?
this made me laugh.........

"it's the letter M; and when combined with the number 3 it causes uncontrollable envy, hatred and despair for those who will never experience the view from the cockpit"

reminds me of the Lexus dealer a few years ago who was quick to point out that the IS he was trying to sell my friend was better than a 3 series

The M3 will always be better and don't you think the engineers at BMW would allow its little brother to beat up on it after a few small mods??? Just wait til you can boost the M3 then its GAME OVER!

Or wait until the Dinan upgraded V8 comes out with 500+ hp and compare apples to apples. Dinan says they may go to a 4.7L stroked V8 like they did with the 5.0 V10 that they upped to 5.7L. That will decimate.

My Ride: MKV GTI 4 Door
I'd take the M I havent driven one yet but if its anything like the e46 M SOLD (if i had the money) Im not big on modding I'd rather have a car perform stock and the 335's ive driven don't put the same smile on my face as the e46 M did.
