As promised here are some pics. My buddy was in Heat 1 and I was in Heat 2 so we got pretty good videos and pics of each other's run. Me and my buddy were complete newbs to this event and plan to go every month. You can even have people sit in your passenger side to critque or just to have fun running down the track. These pictures don't really show how much fun it was to drive your car down the track.
Here I am driving down grid 2 Here is a shot right before my first run. I wanted to clean my car before I showed you guys my wheels that I have been trying to get sourced for a year, but here they are. I just love a clean 5 spoke wheel My car was bone stock besides the heavy wheels and I was suprised they put me in STU class. If anything I should get a break for putting on heavier wheels lol. My rear wheels barely had tread left, was waiting until after this event before putting on the new ones. Here's my buddy right before his run. Starting line His car was putting down too much power for his street tires. He roasted his tires a couple of times down the straight aways. The announcer stated that if they had points for style he should defintely get them lol. Here's a quick shot of how half of the track looks like. Check out the Hoosiers on this Boss! This car sounds really wicked when it went flying down the track. Shot of Grid 1 Was in line to get teched and had to take a picture of this bad boy, he was the fastest on the track that day ran 39 secs I think. My best was like 56 secs and my buddy ran 51Here's grid 2, got a chance to talk to the owner of this e46 m3, he had lightweight wheels and ran 46-47 seconds. There were a lot of cars, from old escorts to new Ferraris. It was great talking to folks from all walks of life. I have to say the dominant number of cars were Miatas and Subarus. wow my guess was pretty good lol, glad it wasn't more serious. You are really lucky you shut her down fast, I remember reading these oil pump nuts could really mess things up if they fell off while the car is still running for awhile. People did all kinds of things to keep if from falling off.
Did they just drop the oil pan, pull out the old one from the magnets, and reuse it? Or did they put a new one in? |
