If by Jacksonville you mean FL, yeah, it's about 5.5 hours. So Charlotte might be a good rest stop. I'm not sure what events are happening on the 31st, but if you like art, there's a few art museums around in the city. If you like taking pictures we have a pretty cool skyline. At 7PM that night, the Bobcats are playing the Lakers, not sure if you're into NBA. Other than that, I'm not sure what's going on down here.

Oh okay, so you're driving straight to Jacksonville, NC and then you're thinking about making a visit to Charlotte after you're down here?

That makes a lot more sense. I have never actually been the Jacksonville, NC, but you're nearby Wilmington which is a pretty cool area. A lot of history is there, like taking a tour of the battleship. It's right on the water so you'd be able to have lunch alongside a canal with ships passing through. Then there's Myrtle Beach which is pretty different. It's not a very "classy" place to visit.

Charlotte is the biggest city in North Carolina, but for some reason isn't the capitol, people usually find that really weird. I think Charlotte is also the banking capital of the United States, but it may just be one of the banking capitals. Nevertheless, Charlotte's skyline is mainly composed of all banking towers. So we do have art, we have the NASCAR Hall of Fame Museum, there's some theatres for plays and whatnot. Down not too far off of Charlotte, ~45min, there's Concord where the drag strip and Lowe's Motor Speedway is, also Concord Mills which is a huge mall, if you like to shop. There's also a few nice golf courses down in South Charlotte, if you're a golf kind of guy. There's a few cool Euro shops in Charlotte if you were looking to have any mods or anything done, and we also have Hendrick BMW on Independence, which is the most successful service store in America (From what I've heard). I also hear that there are some nice bars here, you'd have to look into that though, I'm not a drinker or smoker, so I have no idea what places are the best.

There's the Blue Ridge Parkway, which is a really neat stretch of road, but it's about 3 hours out of Charlotte, so probably 7 hours from where you are. (Would have to make a day trip out of it) Also down on the way to the Blue Ridge Parkway, there's the Biltmore Estate, which is a pretty cool attraction.

That's all that I can really think of off the top of my head.

Epicenter if you're into the busy bar/club scene (you'll also see higher end cars since it's uptown). Parking costs but you can find some free spots if there's a meter open. Also Elizabeth area (pecan and 7th), plaza midwood (plaza and central), and Noda (36th and Davidson) are great places to hang out. Street parking, art, food, bars, etc. I'll be around this weekend if you need more suggestions.

Is anyone on here in "NC BMW Enthusiast" on FaceBook?

It would be neat to have an NC-E46/3-Series meet.

Within driving distance of J-Ville. Try this shop who is an Indy and young gun who is a BMW master mechanic.

Tell him Pete sent you there. Nothing in it for me. Just want him to succeed.

If you were looking for a meet in Charlotte and view the biggest city in North Carolina, there's a BMW meet on the 21st. There will be a food truck, anything from Porches, E39 M5s, possibly a Lamborghini. If you want more information about the meet, just let me know. I understand it's a long drive from Jacksonville, NC.

Anybody know of a good shop near Raleigh preferably on the eastern side who does motor and head work? I'm hoping to build the 330 over the winter for a turbo if I have my money right.

Try Bimmer Performance Center or Black Forest Industries in Cary. Both trusted shops. Then give me a ride afterwards.

I forgot all about BPC. Duh. A guy I work with knows the owner! And black forest is where I got to see that bad a$$ Corrado they built! Man major brain fart haha. If I ever stop bs'n around and finally get my suspension correct the 330 is going in for a major overhaul this winter. I bought my dad a harley and my mom a ford edge for their birthdays and i'm trying to build some $ back up for winter. You can definitely get a ride whenever it finally gets done. I'll be like a fat kid in a candy store and letting everybody get a ride haha.

Try this guy too. He's a master BMW mechanic. Young but experienced. Tell him Pete sent you to him (nothing in it for me), just trying to help this guy out.
