Since we're talking Caymans and Swissvax........

Here is my CaymanS at the local PCA concours in early May. Polished out with Groit's Polishes and Claybar, and then finished off with Swissvax Cleaner Fluid and Swissvax Zuffenhausen (this detailing was about 25 hours.... ), and yes, I did get 1st in class.

I have been a die hard Groit's user for quite some time, but decided to see what the real premium products would do; and was thoroughly impressed with Swissvax. The "depth" in the paint is incredible... Swissvax is also extremely easy to apply and remove.... When I wax my cars, I have usually planned it to be a 2 day project; I did the E46 wagon over the weekend using the Swissvax and was done in about 6 hours........

Greg, if you check in on this thread I hope you are doing well. Not spending alot of time here these days..........

Regards,

Just like many other premium waxes, there are a lot of different "grades" Zuffenhausen (a "Porsche" formulated wax, but seemed to do fine on the BMW) was about $130 and the cleaner fluid about $40........ There was another one for Porsches that was a bit more as well ($220ish) that I considered, but after talking with the detailer Zuffenhausen was the decision..... Zymol has a kaziliion $ wax too.

But, I'll probably get 20 waxings from the container, so the $/waxing is in line with a lot of other products............

Beautiful P-car there....

Do they judge the engines of the Caymans and Boxsters in y'all Concours events? Reason I ask, I am a Concours judge for our local Porsche region and we have been debating back and forth on this topic.

Thanks

Yes, in full Concours Boxter/Caymans have thier engines judged.

I draw the line there, and while my car was totally prepped for the event (pulled the wheels, did the wheel wells, completely pulled apart the front trunk and battery compartment, etc) I refuse do an engine I can't see and entered the "French Class" which is just interior / exterior. I think it's ridiculous to do the engine on these cars given most if not all of the newer cars are regular drivers, and it is a total hassle to do it. In theory, if all the competitors agree not to show engines, they'll judge as concours with no engine points which takes you out of the overall event score.

Its a tough call; if we all agree no engines there would be no fair way to judge us overall. (I was judging this event as well, doing the French classed 911s)........... I also think we need to re-class French and do it by just model years instead of car type / model years to broaden the classes a bit. No reason in French to differentiate between a Cayman and 997 or a 911 and 928 or 944...........

Regards
