Man this stinks that I can import all my images to my computer but they cant be read, b/c Aperture 2, Lightroom 2 and Photoshop CS3 all cant read the new file format for the D90 yet. Looks like I wont be shooting in RAW till this gets fixed. This sucks.

I think Nikon just put out a fix for some of their software. You could download a trial of NX2 (60 days?) and use it to save as tiff. You might even be able to use viewnx which is a pretty simple raw converter with basic adjustments like wb, exp, and color. I use viewnx for most of my adjustments and go into PS for any needed editing (not that often). Save as tiff and then go to other programs from there. These programs will give you better control over Nikon's NEF's anyway and will preserve the in-camera settings...but that's a different argument altogether.

NX 2, is a 60 day trial and it's a decent program. It's a little slow and things are in different places then others, but as noted above the NEF colors are 100%, where CS3 will/can read NEF colors wrong. (reds/orange, esp.) Also, CS3 does not always get in camera adjustmenst right. NX2 only only gets it right, but will allow you to completely reverse or change them.

Get the D90, d300 is overkill for most.

Yeah I may try that and hope apple updates their camera raw support within that amount of time so i can continue to use aperture 2 as my organizer. If they dont I may just have to use this raw to .dng file converter i found on the adobe site.

Apple just update Aperture & iPhoto, but D90 wasn't on it. It should be there on the next update. If you get NX, you can upgrade to NX2 for free. You save like $50.

Saw this linked on another board, but I have no idea if it will help. It mentions d90 support.

D90 kit on sale again for $699. Mind you that you can get the lens for $250 used. So that would make the body costing around $400-500. That's cheaper than the current entry level DSLR.
