my scrolling LED license plate frame didn't set off a CEL...but my light up valve stem caps set off a P9999 "Right side flux capacitor bank 3 empty" light.

Don't ask me why or how, I'm just basing off experiences.
Did you then check WHAT the code was? Or just presumed that it's the same as yours?

And as asked before: Are you mixing up cabin micro filter with intake air filter?

That's funny how nobody wants to take my advice(remove microair filter for a couple of hours, then drive around for the day w/o one.) Anyone with a 99-01 E46 would get a service engine soon indicator. Prove me wrong. Oh, I'm sorry, you can't because you know I'm right. pwned

How in the HELL can someone mix up a micro filter with a reg. air filter? Uhh long rectangular air filter vs. big square filter... Yea, got those 2 mixed up, I accidently stuck my microair filter where the regular air filter goes. wow...

Well, you ARE thinking that a cabin filter influenced the engine, so you never know.

And you still haven't answered the other question. I figure you have NOT checked what code was thrown.

It doesnt matter what code it was, the whole subject was does microfilter trigger engine code...obviously. I mean come oon, two 99-01 4D damn near identical, no service engine indicators, both removed microair filters then bam, service engine indicators, install microfilters......the indicators magically disappear.

Dude,
besides all the ribbing, really, the car is a 99, probably having a few normal MX things that are setting off the code. I doubt anyone will waste the time to take off a cabin air filter off, post pics, and then drive it around to show there will be no CEL. I could be wrong though...LOL. And how can you feel if a filter is made in China or Germany from just the touch...looks like you have more experience on cabin air filters. You can be the filter pro on the Fanatics if you want the title.

I will take your warning on not to pay 40 bucks on a cabin air filter off Ebay....thanks for the heads up.....LOL Would not want another Fanatic to pay 40 bucks on a mircofilter and throw a code. That would suck.

Okay OP, I don't want to piss into your coffee, but:

http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...layCatalogid=0

You payed more for a faulty aftermarket cabin filter than what the original costs

No, if you read above I stated I paid $30 for filter, $10 shipping, so technically I saved a whooping $0.69 on the airfilter. But it was a faulty chinese piece of crap, the plastic was about as cheap as a plastic spoon.

Did you check the Tischer link? You could have saved almost 4 bucks by getting the OEM part, mister rolling eyes.
