Coilovers...
Hey guys... I was so sure that I wanted KW coilovers... but now I am not so positive anymore. Do you guys think I should just wait for the KWs, or go with Bilstein PSS9 or H&Rs?
Is there something that makes one better than the other? I know the H&R drops the car more than the Bilstein in the front... but how is the ride on both? I think if I don't get KWs I would get Bilsteins... can some of you who have one of these systems give me some feedback? Thanks a bunch! :smile:

FK's and KW's are the best overall for the e46 M but the wait can be outrageous. H&R's will give a great drop and they have been proven to be a great coilover system.

don't let my bitching turn you off to them, what works and doesn't work on my car isn't necessarily what will happen with your car. the adjustability is a new thing to me and I am just looking for the right settings for my needs.

I have Ground Control. My car corners super flat & the ride quality is not very degraded. Car feels more sensitive (I have RD sways too) and it feels like it is on rails. GC will ask you what spring rate you want, I ordered a set closer to the H&R race rate, but with a stiffer rear to give me some over steer, & it really does.. but you can order "real" racing spring rates as well. I have not gotten Koni's yet, but will later, I have the stock shocks right now & the ride is great, the Boge shocks are almost like Bilstiens, is what my mechanic says.
I dont know what kind of springs are included in other coilover sets but the ones in the GC setup are the smaller in diameter racing springs, they are about 2.5" in diameter, looked strange at first, but the are great, the are conical & so they get tighter when you corner harder. The car is flat... Sure the GC's use a threaded sleeve, but when you use the Koni's I hear that they are race ready. The threaded sleeve is not a shortcoming it actually provides more versatility. And the threads on the sleeve are large! I would not overlook the potential of GC's, definately keep them in contention. Last edited by Delirium; 05-14-2002 at 01:17 AM. |

Thanks guys... I don't think I push my car hard enough to get the ground control's... they seem pretty crazy since they let you custom specify everything... just like HRE for rims, hehe
I'm just getting impatient waiting for the KWs... it's already been so long... I don't know if I want to wait anymore... that's why I'm considering other choices. I'm just having trouble deciding on what to get... just like deciding on an exhaust... :sad:

I SAY WAIT for the fks/kws, you won't be disappointed! H&Rs are a good kit too but they don't offer valving adjustability. Up to you Later |

I talked to Bilstein today
Their products definately won't work with the 330 series or m3's. Something about the axel. FTHM had mentioned something about this problem before. It's confirmed and they're redesigning it supposedly.

How often do you adjust your valves for dampening ? Just wondering if its even worth the "extra" feature in the PSS9 ! How much difference does dampening make for daily driving or track driving (however often that is!)
