So I installed the AE's. I feel like one of my ds2 bulbs is illuminating rather yellow. I don't have that xenon white. Anyone have an idea why? I might be tripping. Maybe the 6k AE's are making it look dimmer. But I feel like something is not right.

I was thinking the ballast on the bottom wasn't plugged in all the way.but I'm assuming if it wasn't then the bulb would not even light up. Correct?

Thanks for DIY. This was a great job, I have finished long time ago, I had no time to post pics. Here you go.

thought I would mention that I used a heat gun/ paint stripper gun. I removed the lens in less than 10 mins so I wouldn`t bother with the `baking` method. You can direct the heat to just the glue and with a couple of flat bladed screwdrivers it will start to come apart and once you get so far you can pull it apart

yes they exist. i've installed a bunch of them. the orions from umnitza are the only LEDs currently on the market. i'd just go with LEDs for reliability. just so you only have to bake it once and be done with it. no need to go back when a ring fails. since it will probably last forever

The AEs I installed are Orion LEDs; you can see a picture a few posts up. They are extremely bright and haven't had any problems so far. When you are 10 feet of closer you can see the individual LEDs but anything further then that thy look like a solid ring. I highly recommend them.

I felt the same way and was very hesitant following through with it. (This thread compelled me to suck it up and do it to it as sketch as I felt it was).
Not kidding, after baking and begining to pry open the housing, all I was thinking was "wtf am I doing, I should not be doing this."
Honestly, it's not hard at all and no need to worry about ur headlights while baking (not hot enough) they will be fine. Be cautious of some parts of the headlight such as the part the mounting under the headlight (which u have to remove) clips into.
When the headlight is open, obviously avoid touching projector, and once AE install is complete make sure u have all the screws back in place, use a microfiber cloth make sure ur projector has no smuges. Worse thing u can do is put it all back together and notice u forgot a screw or have fingerprints all over ur projector, tempting u to bake/open it back up. You want to get it right the first time, the more u open it the more the adhesive will wear and before u know it, ur going for a car wash with ur new ASs looking great and u pull out to dry, next thing u notice is a crap load if condensation u have to wait 2 days to dry out. Trust me I know.
Good luck!

Umnitza has a set as well. I have Orion v2s. I believe they have different styles. I suggest not going with ccfl (yellow and dull) and do led, they have the v3 or v4s. The number of leds is increased compared to the v2 and the back of the AE is not clear emitting more light. I feel like due to the increased number of leds and the closeness and amount of light being emitted u won't get as drastic of a "dotted" look. They also have preditor which ate thin lines, not sure if led or not.
Hope u find what ur looking for.

Umnitza com
Heard customer service is not the best, but they are a 20 minute drove from me so I usually go there to avoid shipping cost and fir the most part they take care of me.
Sv-concepts is another site to check out.

While LED AEs do have a higher light output than most CCFLs that doesn't necessarily mean the CCFLs are yellow or dull. Both AEs have their own pluses and minuses. It really depends on the overall look and function that the owner is looking for. Here are my CCFLs side by side with some V2s.
