Question Camshaft Position Sensor - I need your help

BACKGROUND

From realoem.com:

intake
18 PULSE GENERATOR, CAMSHAFT 1 04/2004 12141438081 ENDED, See MH 9790718
18 PULSE GENERATOR, CAMSHAFT 1 12147539165 $107.14 +core, See MH 9790718

exhaust
05 PULSE GENERATOR, CAMSHAFT 1 04/2004 12141438082 $107.14 See MH 9790718
05 PULSE GENERATOR, CAMSHAFT 1 12147518628 $107.14 See MH 9790718

bavauto sells the old part number for only $55. But "old" anything concerns me. It was redesigned for a reason.

QUESTIONS
1. What does "See MH 9790718" mean? Does anyone have access to this?
2. Anyone happen to know the diff between the old/new part?

Thanks,

I have Brav Auto Camshaft Position Sensors on my car, intake and exhaust. They did send me a bad exhaust one but sent me out a new one right away when I called them about it. Just make sure you still have your old sensor so you have something to put back in there when you take the defective one out to send back to Brav Auto for the replacement. The new one they sent me worked fine

I've heard the bavauto cam sensors commonly fail after a couple months. How long have you been riding with the bavauto sensor?

tischner has them for $80-90 and my shipping was free....I did a price match with BAV and paid $33, they were good about it , but the sensor did not look the same as the one I took out, going OEM for piece of mind.

Yeah....no need to fool around with after market parts that are known to cause some issues. Get an OEM sensor from Tischer. I got both of mine from them.

My Ride: is a gas HOG...
I replaced my Intake Cam Sensor about two months ago with a Bav Auto one, now it seems even worse! I'm glad I saw this post, because I'm going to contact them now and complain about this faulty cam sensor. I would DEFINITELY recommend going OEM...

Nothing but good things to say about Bavauto...

but don't buy any sensors from them. +1 on the failed camshaft, no refund either.

I got the new version off ebay. Did not come with anything printed on the sensor so I guess its a generic version :-(. Oh well, that was 2 months ago and no problems "yet".

Thanks for the advice everyone... I just reset my codes again today, so I will be buying the sensor tomorrow from my stealership. I called and they will price match Tischer, so that is good. I will post my results.

My only concern is the P1619 code that I also get. Is it just another symptom, or is there something else wrong??

I think Tischner will ship free, I believe bav auto is $7.95 if you want to save $8... came the next day to me.

This is the classic case of why OEM BMW parts are better. With our OEM sensor, you get BMW's 2 year/unlimited warranty......if it goes bad, just stop into your local dealership with receipt in hand and it will be replaced at absolutely no charge! We'll not only match the competitions price, we'll beat it in most cases.....even if that means free shipping. While your local dealership may match our price, it's always good to support your forum sponsors!
