e30 lovers - who's retarted, him or me?
Okay so I'm in the market for a 1988 - 1991 BMW M3 and searching Craig's List. And I found this. Tell me this is outrageous right??

What is outrageous? The price I assume you are talking about? It does seem high. The car seemed really clean at first but the interior and some other places show some miles... For that much I would expect it to be in excellent condition.

Yeah it is outrageous. It is outrageously cheap. A rule of thumb is to expect to spend around 15gs on an e30 m3, Or at then end you would spend 15g's to make it mint. I.E but a 8,000 dollar one, and you will put 7,000 into it. But there is alsways exeptions to the rules.
From the looks of it, minus the driver seat, that car is worth around 16g's. The seat will run you less than $250.00 What do you mean by modding difficulty, in some ways it is cheaper to mod and some ways it is more expensive to mod.

lol, and the sad part is I am an attorney. So much for my spelling?
![]() Wow, I really didn't know that they went for that much. I was totally expecting to pick one up for maybe $7k. I also found one on autotrader for $16k. I was hoping that unlike my e46 where I did all the minor modding myself, that I could get more hands on with an e30 and actually learn to do some engine work and things like that. I have the DIY skills of a noob.

I think that is the general consensus, but isn't that shocking to anyone else? You can get an e36 m3 for almost the same price. I know that there is some inherent value in an older "collector's" car, but I'm just saying.

You can still find a decently clean e36 though... finding a nice e30 is a lot harder

Thanks. It was QUICKLY draining my bank account. I didn't know how much parts were (I only bought OEM) until it was too late. My problem with having the E30 as a project was that I wanted to make it super nice and try to restore it. If I was to do that, I'd have to drop another $10k into the car. Hence the sale
I sold that and eventually got something cheaper and just as fun to work on ![]() ![]() ![]() Edwin |

AT SOME point, the engines need to be rebuilt. probably soon for this one? the price is right because the demand is up, but you can find better examples for a little more or some for slightly less (in other states). check s14.net. that one is actually listed on s14.net, and people are pointing out alot of flaws on it. check it out.

btw...there were only like 5xxx E30 m3s sold in the US if i'm not mistaken...can anyone verify this? so that's why they're still high in price
