Windows up with iWindows

As any USA E46 drivers that has read the owners manual or browsed E46fanatics.com knows the key remote has the ability to open the cars windows and sunroof by pressing and holding the unlock button. A handy little trick that is great for hot days, and of course, the cool factory of having your windows magically roll down before you get it.

Unfortunately for US drivers the key remote can only roll the windows down, and it requires holding the lock button down for a fairly length time period to make this happen. To add insult to injury it turns out that over seas many bimmer owners have the ability to roll up windows by the remote, from the factory no less.

Now, before readers starting thing that if our over sea members can do it, it must be a simply trip to the dealership, stop. In the five years E46Fanatics has been online many many members have boasted that they were going to get this activated from a “friend” at the dealership. This has simply never happened. Further more the great guys at TVonNAV fully investigated this possibility with full access to a US specification dealer computer and it simply cannot be done. There is no way, no how.

So what do Fanatics do whenever the factory lets us down? We of course turn to our aftermarket sponsors and plead our case. For this sort of technology wizardry it takes a company comfortable understanding the complex OEM wiring harness and BUS system. That company is of course TVonNAV. TVonNAV is a leader in video integration with OEM components so when they heard the idea of rolling up the windows from the key remote it was only a matter of time.

Now completed and shipping, the the TVonNAV iWindows Module allows you to use your OEM BMW Remote/Key to roll up the windows and sunroof, as well as put the windows and sunroof down with one touch. This product is the perfect addition to your E46 to add full window functionality as offered in European E46's. When equipped with the optional iRain Sensor, the iWindows module will automatically put the vehicle's windows and sunroof up when rain is sensed.

What more could an E46Fanatic want? A high tech product that has everyday appeal with tons of cool factor all in an easy to install package for a reasonable price. To get your iWindows today visit the TVonNAV website at www.tvonnav.com.

Not by default, we can program this feature for locals as well.

We will be releasing a module of our own shortly for those not near our facility.

I wish they still made iTop for verts...or whatever it was called, so I could put the top up and down with the key without using the keyhole.

Already here for the locals, all it takes is a programming reflash.

I guess they found out the hard way that the aftermarket business has it "ups and downs".......

Sorry, bad pun and it's nice to poke fun at others misfortune. It would have been nice if they released all their info as Open Source before they quit, though.

Boards are done and being assembled as we speak. We'll start a new thread as soon as we're ready for release.
