I think the stock brakes are fine too, but some people seem to think the slotted rotors are better? Any thoughts on that? I think Id like to go with slotted as long as they dont wear the pads faster or anything like that.

How do you like the Hawk's compared to the initial bite of OEM? Squeaks at all?

Thanks for the input!
ummm replacing brakes you need to figure at least $7-800 +labor including quality rotors and performance pads with fluid + ss lines
it is a bmw you should give it quality items and not cut corners
and OEMs squeak? i never knew... my OEM was really good just dusted really bad... and i dont drive hard... (my mom drives faster than i do)

I have a buddy that will install for free

If you see my sig, Im sure you will see I dont cut corners

No, I was referring to the Hawk pads and if they squeak at all, not the OEM--what are your impressions of the Hawk pads in terms of initial bite compared to OEM? Pedal feel, etc...

I really like the OEM, but I figure since I need to get brakes, may as well upgrade a lil

i had hawks hps before and they rock... and i had HP+ and those were noisier...
i think many ppl went over the same thing.. no track use, no need for bbk... unless the person is a tool

pedal feel depends on the SS lines too... SS lines have less flex so it will feel more direct and less mushy while stock lines are rubber and they are mushier

honesty stock is great for regular use but it just dusts too much...

I usually clean my car once a week, dont drive it very much, so the dust in exchange for the "bit" is ok with me--dont get me wrong, Id love less, but without sacrifice

So, do the Hawk pads squeal on you at all? Im definitely getting SS lines--what pads do you have now?

i dont see any point in terms of having quiet pads... hawks HPS is perfect for street in terms of performance, dust, life, and durability as well as being comfortable - im not a hawk sales rep either - if my car sounded like a GT car everytime it stopped, i would be

Ok, you aren't giving me an answer here

You had said you had them on your car, correct? Did you have any squealing or squeaking issues when you had them on your car?

my old setup was quite squeaky though, for your information. Zimmermann crossdrilled (warped easy) and Axxis Deluxe pads. Squeeked like a b!tch most of the time I had them on there.

These HPS and Powerslot vented rotors have been silent thusfar.

more to come, will be making a thread of the 3.0 front retro.

Thanks man Those HPS pads are ceramic correct?

Yeah, I wont be going drilled, but was thinking of slotted...are these prone to warping?

all i know is the stopping power on ceramic is not as good as hps
i know someone who used ceramic and i think the person is ok with it... but imo on the street its the pads and tires that stop the car in case of emergency and having higher-stopping power pads might mean the difference between crash and *phew*... and thats why i think your car for show with non-squealing pads and such philosophy does not succeed (but its only in my humble opinion)

I chose to do stock zimmerman rotors w/hawk hps pads. mine DO squeal, but i do a lot of canyon/aggressive driving. When they start squealing it means its time to wash your car. specifically the brakes. just hose all the dust out of the caliper and you should be fine... until it builds up again. i'm also running SS lines with motul fluid. I love how my brakes are now. Its more of a linear bite, but i think that makes for a better feel as you can control it a bit more.

i wouldn't recommend going drilled rotors at all, slotted rotors are okay though.

You'll be fine with the replacement kit from Turner or the OEM kit from Tischer. There really isn't a need to go with slotted rotors unless you plan on going to the track or doing some serious street racing.

I believe the turner kit comes with Axxis Metal Masters.

the bmw motorsport floating rotors are drilled as well as all porsche brakes and all exotic brakes
its just ebay/low quality drilled rotors are more prone to warping under stress but we are not buying low quality drilled are we
