Custom Cold Air Intake 01 325i

Well i just got done building a cold air intake. Its just some painted up 3 in stainless steel tubing and a K&N air filter. Here's some pics.

Yeah it saves me about 250 dollars =)

Definitely does. I would do the same and replace the intake tube with the K&N one from their intake system.

Well went out for a drive and ran the car hard. Well popped the hood and the intake pipe was cold to the touch while the engine was nice and hot. It is 37 degrees outside, but the pipe felt like it was a cold piece of steel laying outside. Also seemed like a good amount of pickup from the butt-dyno. Engine also roars a bit louder now.

but I cant do that here where I live because when it rains I'll suck up the water and there goes my motor but yeah you saved alot of $$$ and it works good I bet...

using a metal tube scares me....mainly cause condensation that could build.

and how did you paint stainless?!

good job man, if i wasnt stupid 2 years ago i would do the same, i spend almost 300 dollars for the same thing but in carbon fiber.

if you mandrel bent your own tubing that makes this diy invalid for the absolute majority of the people... since not everyone has access to a bender...

Please follow up on your experience with this after extended driving. The bend in front of the MAF is something you want to avoid...
