2004 M3 Headlight ?

The drivers side headlight sometimes will turn on and sometimes it won't, I've read on here that I should swap it out with the other side to make sure the headlight is the problem first before buying a headlight. If the problem continues on the drivers side after the bulb switch then it's the igniter "I think"?? Is this a correct assumption?

I see headlights for as much as $130 and as low as $10, some have a plastic bottom housing and some have metal plugs on the bottom and no housing. Is the plastic housing removeable on the stock lights so you reuse it with the lights with only the metal plugs sticking out the bottom?

Just bought it last Monday, drove all the way to Atlanta from Kansas to get it, was well worth it. Hands down it's a much better, much more fun car than my old 01 vette. SMG took some getting used to but I'd have to say I absolutely love it after getting accustomed to it.
