My Ride: 2000 bmw 323i sedan
window regulator or motor bad?

it make grinding noise when goes up but smooth when goes down.
now it is not go all the way up, about 2 inches gap and stop.
coould it be the motor or the regulator/, this is on a 2000 323i front passenger side. thanks for the help

Its the regulator... I'm positive. Both my fronts did the same thing. I just got my driver side fixed at the dealer for $220 after tax. That's including parts and a new vapor barrier (I guess mine was f-ed from someone else taking apart my door before I bought the car). If you dont have $220 laying around, look into the DIY fix for them... that could be all you need. Unfortunately, my regulator was beyond the DIY

I would say check the motor. Mine goes down but wont roll back up. WHen I tested the motor it only moves one way.
