hi i just got a bmw 330ci year 2003 coupe about a month ago so i really dont know much about this car, however the engine service soon light stays on and this started a couple days ago i had a full check up and tune up on it last month. ive heard that bmw is notorious for broken lights? such as my friends oil light stays on no matter what..has this happened to anyone before? can anyone please help me before i have to bring it in and get charged up the butthole again?

You don't really mention anything that accompany the SES light i.e. running rough, stalls, slow acceleration, lack of power etc.
You should get in touch with someone with a scan tool (indy/dealer/friend/autozone/) to read the fault code first and then post here so we can help you fix the problem that's causing the SES.

Autozones in California doesn't offer the use of diagnostic tools anymore cause of some new law, so don't try them. I called a few of them around here and no luck.

thanks much skilletdog and everyone else, and i have not noticed anything wrong with the car while it has been on beside a scratching sound eveytime i start the car but i guessed that was from its age?

ouch, that's up there. I was going to say, bring it over to an autozone close by here because they will lend the scanner. Find a local bmw shop and take it there. Depends on the place they might ask you for a couple of bucks to do it, but at least you get an idea what the problem is.

autozone will lend u the code reader but u have to pay like 160 deposit and u get it all back when u return it...
