Aftermarket side markers...

I recently ordered some smoked front corners and sides from JleviSW, I got them today and the side markers wouldn't lock into the sides as others have stated on this forum. I knew about this issue before hand and decided the low price was worth risking it. Anyway I searched the forum and all I found was "try digging out the groove a little to make it deeper" and after about 20 min of whittling away with a razor was no closer than when I started. So I stepped back and gathered myself and thought "come on, you can fix million dollar Navy jets don't let this piece of plastic kick your arse!" So I looked at the original and then at the smoked one and it hit me. I went to my tool box and pulled out my hacksaw and installed the thinnest blade I had, laid it parallel to the back of the light and being careful not to cut the rubber seal cut a new groove, it fit perfectly. So it took me about 25 min to install the first one and about 45 sec. on the second one. If anyone else has this problem with aftermarket side markers I would highly suggest trying this. By the way I installed the corners with no problems, and my 325i is starting to look hot, I'm well on my way to being a fanatic!

Yeah you will have to file it down a bit on some of them. Glad you figured it out and saw a little humor in it.

I have heard people having this issue before... I was shocked mine went in with no issues. I did not get them from a vendor at the time as I was completely new here and did not know and I got them on Ebay. I think they are DEPO though but I may have just gotten lucky.

Good to hear you got them on and the way you did it was a very cool idea.

Yeah I'm the dude you were quoting above...took me about 30 mins using a razor blade and my pocket knife to whittle away the excess material and manipulate the groove...it's like creating a channel, of sorts.

It can be done, and instead of freaking out, just stepping back and taking your time gets it done. For $15 a piece, what do you expect, ya know? I'm glad you got it done, and I have a DIY write up for this coming soon. I've got to help a fellow Fanatic out with this as well...

Is anyone else noticing it's more of the passenger side? Hopefully the sponsor is getting (or has gotten) in touch with DEPO about this.

Thanks a million for bringing this up. I've had the same problem with mine as well on both driver and passenger sides. The fix worked like a charm!
