Shock questions....
Well, I decided I will be dropping my Bimmer when the V710's wheels come in...
I was thinking about using my stock ZHP 48k Shocks. Or should I save up and get some Koni FSD or ToKico Blue? Not sure I want to spend 700 bucks on shocks...Input guys...Need some help... deciding

Get coilovers instead so you can adjust it to the height you want. Shocks alone won't give you a good drop, you'll need to do a paired spring/shock combo. If you can spend a bit more you'll be much happier.

I roll stock sport shocks on my drop, and its fine for everyday driving.. and they are pretty friggin' blown. Its only when i get into the canyons where i really hate my stock shocks. so i think if your not going to be doing any aggressive driving, just roll stock shocks.

I do not want CoilOvers. To me its to much of a hassle. I will have to get it corner balance everytime I adj the height and get an alignment. I just prefer just to do the traditional spring and shock setup. I will not be tracking the Auto ZHP since it will be no fun doing so until I do the 6 speed tranny swap one day.

just get an H&R Cupkit. its a matched shocks and spring setup that is made to compliment each other. Drop is moderate, ride is nice, cost is low. And you won't have to worry about ur shocks going and you hating yourself within 10k miles.

I really dont want H&R.. Reason, I already bought my EiBach ProKit Springs and I dont like the rake look. At this moment I have a Reverse Rake Look now...

The reverse rake is an optical illusion. The front fenders of our cars are higher than that of the rears, making it appear that the car is higher in the front. Don't look at the fenders alone, but the angle of the sideskirts.

stock shocks, even sport or zhp are underdamped with the stock springs. Adding higher rate drop springs will only make this worse. Get better shocks.
As for waiting for a manual swap before you hit the track... have you really been to a racetrack? Any transmission is good times. -Z |

How are the EiBach Pro-Damper Kit? Since it will be similar to the H&R Sport Kit...

^ what does my being a moderator have anything to do with you giving the guy bad advice?
ride quality and performance aside, its simply not safe to roll around on blown shocks. ever seen a car rolling down the highway with its wheels bouncing all around? not only does it hurt ur handling, it decreases braking traction etc. FWIW, matched setup > blowing out your shocks, any day.

You should be fine with the stock shocks for now because the Pro kit springs aren't going to lower the car that much from stock. However it's not that much more to get the pro dampers as well and just do it all at once, especially if you're paying someone to do the work. I have the Eibach dampers/springs and I love it...same ride quality as stock but just enough drop to get rid of the wheel gap in the fender.

Koni FSDs and Eibach srping set up. tire Rack sells the set for $870 I think, and honestly, you could get them a little cheaper if you look around.
As for the alignment, you will need to get one, just pony up the $40 and get it done... You will be much happier.

$40 bucks for an alignment? What type of an Alignment are u getting? I was quoted for $145 from the dealership for a 4 wheel alignment.

Do NOT have your alignment done by a place that uses anything other than the Beissbarth BMW approved alignment rack (unless they do it by hand).
