07 vs 08 335s...

Are there any issues with the 07 335s?

I'm debating whether I should go for an 07 or 08 335 (both used with less than 6k miles, but $5000 difference in price!).

What are the revisions for 08?

Thanks

something to do with the oil cooling system IIRC, which was an issue on 07s.

The 08 has LED license plate lights.

The oil cooling system is a problem for 07's without the sport package... I don't know whether they fixed that for 08...

From my understanding (this applies to both Sedans and Coupes), 2007 without Sport Package had no oil cooler which obviously results in very high oil temps. 2007 with Sports Package have an oil cooler. All 2008 with or without sport package have an upgraded oil cooler when compared to the one in the 2007. 2009 is mechanically unchanged as far as I know.

If you are going to mod this car to MAX POWER with bolt ons then go with the 07, the 08's have a new ECU with a new progman that deter piggybacks, obviously that doesnt work too well because I have an 08 with JB3..........

But if i ran catless downpipe and catless exhaust my ECU would put my car into limp mode to deter from putting out those high torque levels, in low end rpms..........thats where the new progman and ECU takes the readings from to deter from piggybacks.......

Thats why 08's are running lower TQ levels than 07's with piggy backs.....

The only other changes are the led lights on the license plates and door handles and the SECOND oil cooler coming with both sport and non sport........

Also 08 has DCT.........

No, you would have to get the old ECU and get the car reflashed back to pre 29.2 which is immpossible, but here is the key, you can run VERY high levels in the upper RPM range.........3000 to 7000 rpm.........

Terry just came out with a new tune for DP's, Intake, and Jb3 and he put out 393whp and 395 wtq on 94 octane........on 91 octane it was around 380 whp and wtq........

I dont know how many foced induction cars you have owned but that is alot of power.........on str8 100 octane you would def be running over 400 whp and wtq...

I appreciate all the comments.

The one i'm eyeing is an '07 335i with sports package and steptronic. It only has 6,000 miles and I drove it semi-hard and idled it for about 30 minutes; temp never passed the 250 mark... I think it was between 200-230 ( can't remember...about 7 o-clock position).

According to e90post.com, I'm reading that most still have some type of high pressure fuel pump failure and overheating (those without sport package).

1) Is there a NEW part # or is everyone constantly getting new faulty pumps and replacing every few thousand miles?

2) Would it be safe to say that my possibly '07 won't have an overheating issue since I have the oil cooler?

3) Any other failures or major things on the 07 models?

4) I'm planning on just adding a chip/tuner and intake (then again, another question...SSTT, JB3, AA, or other on 91 octane).

Thanks!

EDIT: Perhaps I should have asked first on the e90post site Made a new thread on the site, found here.
