might want to be a little more specific about what type of supercharger and also at what PSI is it running. if its less then 6.5PSI it might not be able to keep up with either and would barely keep up with 350Z (assuming its the 6 speed not the auto's auto's lose almost 20 HP) and the cayman S (also a 6speed assumption) would leave both behind nicely. BUT if its a 8.5-9.5 PSI system it might be able to hang with the cayman S and beat the Z. just depends really.

Frankly speaking I never knew if 350Zs I raced were auto or 6MT, but they all lost to a 5MT e46 325i with 8PSI. I'm curious about capabilities of Cayman S myself

the new dual intake (newest vq) 350z makes about 270 to the wheels automatic..
so... if the 325 is force inducted and makes around the same horse power mark via pulley or headers or whatever... it should start pulling away becasue of more torque. the cayman is quicker but may not be faster.

I've got a 13.2 at 105.69. Where are SC'd 325's running in the 1/4. Whats the gain they get in the second 1/8th. I'm picking up ~25 mph. edit- Don't forget, the Z has at least a 3.538 rear gear in a 6-speed manual. So the 325 loses the gearing battle as well. the thing is only 2 outta 15 or so 350z will be this new vq35hr(high rev) 270-289 whp machines.
the rest are going to be non-track based non-lsd 235-245 whp models. but then again.. the chances of running into a 325 with a blower...that has about 270-280 whp is gots to be like 2 outta 10,000

Its amazing how much quicker the Z is compared to the G... I consistently walk Gs with bolt ons, but have mixed results with the Zs

How come new Zs are still heavier than e46 325s? Base Z is 3,313 lb. vs e46 325 3241 lb.

The chassis wasn't designed for the Z specifically, but for the murano, the Z, and the G, so it had to be adaptable and that led to extra weight. Its definitely stiffer, but I dunno what causes the weight to be so high. And most 07 owners will never get low 13's. I went to the strip a lot and am driving the crap out of the car. That 13.2 is currently the best of any stock Z, so take it as you will. The Nismo will run slower, stiffer suspension and more aero drag both kill its launch/trap abilities. The powertrain is essentially identical, so no help there. |

^ What track do you go to? I went to Moroso a couple times. Even though it was my first experiense at the drag strip and I know pretty little about drag racing, I can say that Moroso strip sux, as I get a much better traction on a regular highway.

Line up in the rubber of a car with slicks. It helps a lot. VHT is great, but rubber and VHT is soooo much better. I'm running Gainesville mostly. I'll make a trip to Bradenton someday, I've heard its a better track but runs slower so you get less attempts in. |

Well like Tyler said, he holds the record for the fastest recorded 1/4 time @ 13.2
If you want to compare, the fastest recorded time for a stock M3 I believe is 12.7.

Already talking smack now are we.I've yet to find a stock M3 to race, I really want to see a stock/lightly modded M3 at the track so I can compare 1/8th and 1/4 speeds (since the driving is unlikely to be equal) given same conditions. I'd bet its closer than any M3 owners would want to admit. |

I just ran my friends m3 from 2nd gear @ 40mph... I was dead even up till the end of third, and he began to pull from there. He's lightly modded with headers and software.
Tyler, I believe most M3s trap ~107 in stock form.

I trapped that in 68, frankly I expect a better trap when it gets in the 50's. Everyone posts runs from ~50 degree weather and I'm getting close with a 20 degree handicap. Thats another .2 off my time if I drive right... Last edited by Tyler@UniqueDesign; 11-01-2007 at 05:46 AM. |
