The m3 already sounds sick you dont need to poke the valves.

I still think its funny how people ask if their car has that valve... its so easy to just go to your car and check the exhaust. It's not like you have to take apart the intake, or take apart the whole engine or something, lol.

2003 325xi has the butterfly valve. I less than three this mod. The 'new' sound it makes is quite nice.

Mod: Colder/more air intake from stock box.
Why: Might get colder air, definitely get more air into the engine (not sure how much, but more than stock), sound will increase slightly (I was even able to get a slight "burble" since I also did the "golf-tee" mod), and cops can't give you sh!t for the intake (looks stock; got that from someone else but can't remember who).
DIY: Cut a small hole in the air box under where the filter goes. You can either cut a 3" hole and route a duct pipe to you brake duct to get colder air, or leave the 3" hole as is, or cut a larger hole in the side of the air box. Either way you want to go, you may want to cover the hole(s) with screen mesh (the stuff you use to patch a broken screen window; not sure of price since I had it lying around the house). For me, the whole thing cost me nothing (not including electric bill and gas used for a test ride ).
And yes I did put the filter back on, etc.
Links: sort of too lazy/tired to look for them right now.

Also, I did the sharpie mod from Jake. And it came out great!

The thing you gotta remember about this is if you drive your car hard theres a possibility that your gunna be sucking up hot air from the engine bay. I was gunna go with the air duct to brake duct thing but i got lazy and left it as is.
It makes the exhaust sound deeper but its barely noticable. But whats cool is every thinks my cars spun by a supercharger. Even the people that kno what there talking about. I kept my hole smaller though which is probably why i get the loud whistle

I have a question about the golf tee mod, what exactly do you do? do you just joke it open and then let the hose hang there? if someone could make a video of them doing it, it would be very much apreciated. Sorry if i looko like an idior asking this, it seems like a good mod. And also could you do the other exhaust mod and the golf tee mod? thanks for anyone willing to help

Yeah just pull the hose out, and then stick something in the hose. What is the other mod?

Skippy, the hole is on the outer side of the engine. I felt that part of the bx after the ride back from BMW fest in NJ (after the car was warmed up and on a hotter day) and it was still pretty cool. Thee sheet metal was also pretty cool. I also drove it around tonight on local streets (30mph areas w/ plenty of stop signs/lights) and i was getting 20mph for the 15-20miles I drove. So i don't think that's too bad for an xi.

The valve stays open when the car is off (please don't be do it when on! HAHA).

I think he's talking about the muffler delete. And in response to that, I don't think you can but then again, anything is possible.

also, i did the airbox and golf tee mods and it sound pretty good. i would do a res delete before a muffler. i would probably just get a new exhaust before i did a muffler delete (i think it's too loud for me/ i don't want that many tickets ).
