Ipt Performance Transmission ?? ( anyone had any experience with these guys )

I know from by import ( 240sx ) days that these guys built the tranny for the fastest auto. Eclipse in the world. The car consistently runs 9s and the tranny is said to have been bullet proof so far.

But I only found by chance that they make a performance rebuild for our ZF and 5L transmissions, has anyone had any experience with them with their BMWs ? From what they do with other auto tranmissions I was thinking this may be the perfect solution for my auto 330ci that I want to charge.

Any experience that people have had or additional information would be GREATLY appreciated.

I asked about this a while ago, and I haven't had anyone respond to me about it. I want to do it because supposedly it makes our autos handle about 330 hp according to the guys at IPT

The 5L40E $4650 transmission wow really pricey........i rather take my chances with a sc or a manual tranny swapp!!!! only if i were to do this of course

Thats the point of why I wanna do this, My car is a daily driver and for me I love the convenience of a auto, something I dont wanna give up.... BUT I want more power, thats probably the only thing Im not satisfied with on my 330. I would have bought a M, but I didnt wanna give up the gas mileage plus I live in south dakota and our winters suck. YA YA I know I want my cake and wanna eat it to.... but what do you do

To the best of my knowledge no... I have been talking with them and what they are telling me about their transmission build I have been running past a friend of mines grandpa that owns a transmission repair shop. Hes pretty much telling me that their claims should be easily valid.

For me Im pretty sure I will be pulling the trigger on this tranny build from them this winter, now its a matter of FI. To Turbo or to Supercharge

Do you know if having something like this done messes with steptronic software (DINAN or ESS)??

wow 5K??? you might as well get M3 tranny with rear subframe, diff and everything.

I hear what your saying... but for me atleast, this isnt about the money. I love the fact my car is a auto, and dont want to have to sacrafice the convenience of the auto for the added power handling of the manual tranny . It is definitely something that I have thought about, but I want to keep the automatic. As bad as it may be to say I love the convenience of the auto ( biggest reason I dont wanna do a manual swap ).

i have an automatic supercharged 330ci and i just hit 100K and my transmission is GOLDEN. it's honestly flawless. Just drive it carefully. Never push the pedal through the redline. I always let off this gas for a second to give it time to shift.

What were the dyno numbers on your car and how many of those 100k have been with the supercharger ??

the supercharger has been on for about 50K miles and it's never been dynoed but it's been estimated at ~340HP and ~310lb/ft

Thats really weird, when I talked to them about the build they said it should handle over 600... that was on their full tranny build though, so maybe he was quoting you something different

Mat Skolnick, that is funny man, 330Ci with 340HP, and 310 ft. lbs. , ahahahahahahaha, dude!! you are goingo to be one sad guy when you go to the dyno man. I have far more put into my 330Xi and despite the AWD for another 15% diastolic loss due to the physics of redirection of power and the added front differential, there is no way even if I added 20% in lue of that I would be hitting those numbers to the ground. I am guessing you are saying what you have at the crank man, go dyno, maybe a Ci is way diff then a 330i or Xi, but don't be suprised if you get 250 HP tops at the wheels. I'm running 9 psi now, and with new tranny upgrade and lower compression pistons, I'll be putting down 310HP to the ground with a low gearing, so my 0 to 60 now of 5.6 should drop significantly.

what tranny upgrade do you have?? ^^
