Sorry but I can't provide an in depth engineering analysis of exactly what is different and why. I do know that the inputs shaft splines are different between the transmissions. Bell housing and bolt pattern should be the same as I believe the transmissions are interchangeable.

Why are you so interested?

Clutch

From what I am hearing the M3 clutch is a bit stronger.

Makes sense given the greater output of the M3 motor. If you need a stronger clutch for a 330 though, you'll need to go aftermarket.

Unless you are very heavily modded, the stock clutch is more than enough. I'm running over 320 ft-lb (at the flywheel) on my stock clutch at 73k miles with no problem.
