One time while my mommy was wiping my butt she told me to ALWAYS leave a friendly voice mail. How would you feel if a weird random number showed up on your missed calls with no voice mail?

If she has caller ID, leave a message, otherwise you'll look like a puss. If your number is blocked, just try again later.

It's more difficult to say no to you in person.

No message, unless she also has your number in her phone. You leave a message, you leave it to her, and I agree it's much harder to say no in person than just not call back.

She has your number, go with short friendly message that just says who it is, your number, and hope to hear from her.

Stop over-thinking it, and if you leave a message and she doesn't call you back, try to assume the best and not the worst...unless you got her number through means other than friendly interaction, you shouldn't have anything to worry about.
