Well, the owner of Wolfgang was an apprentice of somesort under Peter Luger. He opened up his own place Wolfgang Steakhouse and it really does match the quality of Peter Luger. IMO Luger and Wolfgang are equal in quality.

and please please dont confuse Wolfgang to Wolfgang Puck. Wolfgang Puck is FTL

Wolfgang opened up here in bev hills awhile backand my buddy says it's fantastic. Wolfgang Puck is pissed because it's down the street from Cut and he's suing the dude for trademark infringement thinking Wolfgang is trying to capitalize on his reputation

I've been hitting to hit that up for awhile now, maybe next week.

Shake Shack was worth the wait in line for me several years back. They plan to open up another place I believe uptown.

For great burgers in the city other than Shake Shack I would recommend:

1. Corner Bistro - try their brewed beer
2. R.A.R.E bar and Grill
3. 5 Guys - you get free peanuts while you wait for your burgers to be grilled, lol

those 3 are in the vicinity of the village.

4. Blue 9 Burger
5. Good Burger

Those 2 are in the vicinity of Union Sq.

oh, another burger place I would recommend is 67 Burger and Chez Oskar, both which are in the Fort Greene area of Brooklyn. Chez Oskar is more a French restaurant, but their spicey lamburgers are the best! And 67 Burger has a great permutation of burgers you can chose from, but their fries I swear are the Ortega frozen fries you find at supermarkets.

Corner Bistro is one of those places, that is waaaaay overrated. Zagat gave it's burger top reviews and all of a sudden, people think its the best thing under the sun....

havent tried R.A.R.E.

you dont have to go to NYC to have five guys. I go to one near me all the time. Love em!

The best pizza I have had in California was at Johnnies New York Pizzeria. I have yet to find a better place, that is until I go to New York.

I laugh at people who say "the best pizza in new york is..." because no two people have or will ever agree as to what the best pizza is.

Having asked so many people/friends there plus food experts I have never found a consensus so it really doesn't matter, you'll just have to try them when you can.

Corner Bistro is not overrated. Who said I was judging this based on a ZAGAT review? I rarely even look at a ZAGAT review since it's so subjective. I prefer NFT.
I've been going to this spot before ZAGAT helped the forming lines that are longer than a Disney attraction. It's the best place to go out on a weekday to have a burger and beer.

It doesn't matter if you dont have to go to NYC to have 5 Guys; it's still one of the better places here in NY. I only get the junior burger since the regular ones are so damn packed! artery cloggers!

And another thing, I forgot to mention:

PETER LUGER - LUGER BURGER F T M F W one of the best burgers I've had out of anywhere

I want necessarily implying that you based your decision on Zagat.
